Preface
The Course of Lectures in Stylistics aims to develop students' skills to analyse and
interpret the literary text,
its style, Expressive Means and Stylistic Devices. It focuses
on those special skills which enable students to penetrate into the concept of the text, to
reveal its implicit information and the author's world picture.
The course is designed for the senior students of English, translation faculties. It
consists of 18 hours lectures and 20 hours seminars. Every lecture is followed by a set
of tasks and questions, which help students to understand and revise the material in the
most effective way.

Hyperbole.
Lecture – VI
Lexical Stylistic Devices: Antonomasia, Zeugma, Pun.
Lexico-syntactical Stylistic Devices: Simile.
Lecture – VII
Lexico-syntactical Stylistic Devices:
Periphrasis, Litotes,
Antithesis, Gradation. Syntactical Stylistic Devices.
Lecture – VIII
Syntactical Stylistic Devices. Phonetic stylistic devices.
Lecture – IX
Subject-matter of Text Interpretation. Categories of the text.
Composition of the text. Poetic details. Scheme of interpretation.
