C) reflect each other in the way they have altered throughout history

The Hittites were a people who lived in central Anatolia what is now the Asiatic part of Turkey -
between 3,000 and 4,000 years ago. They came into contact with many of the ancient civilisations,
with whom from time to time they fought wars made treaties, and even arranged royal marriages. A
feature of Hittite culture is that, from the earliest days of their history they cremated their dead. In
this the Hittites appear to have been unique
among their contemporaries, with the exception of the
heroes of the Homeric legends. Homer's great epic poem, the Iliad, is set in and around the ancient
city of Troy, which is at the western edge of the lands controlled by the Hittites at the height of their
power. It is certainly possible, therefore, that the custom of cremation was
passed on by the Hittite
civilisation to the early Greeks.
