An Honest Review of an Excellent Gi

What’s the point of this little article? I am reviewing a Mike 

Fowler Signature Gi for all you fellow Brazilian Jiu-jitsu students. 

Take a look at some of my observations.

Customer Service

First and foremost, let me begin my praise 

of Tatami with the customer service. If there 

is one thing that sets a company ahead it is 

the customer service. Five stars! You will not 

be disappointed when you interact with 

Tatami!

The Fit

The fit of this gi is exactly what the gi fitting 

says. If you are a plus size individual (like 

me) take your honest measurements and 

send them to Tatami. Rely on their customer 

service, and pick out a gi that suites your 

needs. For me the Mike Fowler was what 

tripped my trigger. I am a 6’4” 285 pounder. I 

have a little tummy and some junk in the 

trunk. This gi fit really well right out of the 

bag. 

Pants

The pants were a touch snug when I first put 

them on, but loosened right up as soon as I 

wore them for a minute. Have no worries 

with this! Just do your homework and you’ll 

be great!

Sleeves

I was a little concerned with the sleeve length when I first put on the jacket. But after a roll and a 

wash; the length is perfect.

Collar

Not only is the collar a work of art, but it is perfectly 

comfortable, too. It has the feel of neoprene which is 

a nice relief from the folded canvas of so many other 

gis I’ve worn.

Conclusion

I am a big guy, and I roll hard. I have been 

through some gis! Tatami has made a great 

blend of strength and comfort in the Mike 

Fowler signature edition gi. All in all: BUY 

THIS GI! If the Mike Fowler Signature edition is too flashy for you then take a look at the other 

options Tatami has. Tatami is an excellent company making excellent gis!
