Many houseplants can be propagated by a cutting, which makes them incredibly easy to grow in an aquaponic system. If you want to grow a large amount of houseplants for sale, this may be difficult, since you will need to transplant each plant into a pot for buyers. The aquaponic system would only serve as a propagation bed, and would add unnecessary time and cost to the final product.
Many flowers grow well in an aquaponic system, but it may be difficult to grow flowers for bouquets. Many popular cut flowers, like daisies, have tough, fibrous stems that help them last longer in an arrangement. However, plants with tough, fibrous stems generally like warm, dry conditions.
Plants with green, fleshy stems don’t hold up as well in a flower arrangement, but they are the flowers that grow well in an aquaponic

system. That's not to say you can't grow an incredible variety of
flowers, but you may have difficulty finding buyers since your flowers
will have a limited shelflife.

Strawberries are one of the only fruits suitable for beginner hobby growers. Most fruits require a iower pH than vegetables, which can make them difficult to balance in an aquaponic system.
Strawberries are not propagated by seed. Instead, stems, called stolons, are rooted in new pots or media to create new crowns. Strawberries are either June-bearing or everbearing. June-bearing strawberries will produce a large crop for a few weeks during the warm summer months. Ever-bearing strawberries produce a smaller number of fruits at one time, but the harvest season is longer.
Strawberries require warm temperatures tor tire tvwit to sweeten, so outdoor systems may be easier to start an aquaponic strawberry patch. One consideration for strawberries in your system is that they are perennial, meaning they do not need to be replanted after each harvest. If you have space to dedicate to a permanent strawberry
