Use zip ties to attach the grow bed to the fish tank. Fill the fish tank with water.

Step 13.
Turn on the water pump, and check for leaks. The water should be pushed up the 1/2" pipe and out through the holes in the PVC in the top of the grow bed. As the water reaches the top of the bell siphon, the water should drain back into the fish tank.
Step 14.
If there are no leaks, rinse off the grow media, fill the grow bed with media, and begin to cycle your system.

This is by far the most popular aquaponic design. IBC totes are perfect for aquaponics, and they are fairly easy to find. Make sure the totes you use have only been used for food-safe products.
