Essay about life, works of S.A.Ramanujan

Srinivasa Ramanujan was a self-taught mathematician who made significant contribution to areas of mathematics such as number theory, infinite series and continued fractions. He is best known for his work in integer sequence (notably the famous partition function), analytic number theory and creating mathematic theories that paved the way for modern mathematical fields such as graph theory. Ramanujan also worked on complex numbers, elliptic functions, algebra and other topics related to mathematical analysis.

Ramanujan's work has had a great influence on modern mathematics and computer science. One notable example can be seen in the use of the Ramanujan constant (X) in various random number generators and algorithms which are widely used in cryptography, gaming and scientific computation. His most famous results is his celebrated formula for the partition function p(n) which specifies the number of different ways n distinct objects may be grouped into summands (individual numbers).

Ramanujan's works have also greatly influenced mathematical physics, especially on topics related to quantum mechanics and string theory. For example, his work on infinite series expansions helped lead to an exact formulation of string theory which incorporates previously unknown constants in nature called Ramanujan-Yang Conjecture constants. This has enabled physicists to calculate properties of quarks with unprecedented accuracy.

Ramanujan was highly influential in terms of making significant contributions to certain branches of mathematics; however he is perhaps best known for his mystical insight into mathematical truth. He believed that God revealed the solutions to problems through strange symbols that he experienced in his dreams or visions; this led him to intuitively solve difficult problems with ease while others were struggling to find solutions.
