Some educationalists say that every child should be taught how to play a musical instrument. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Music is proved to be an important part of our lives as thousands of people listen to music every day and many play different instruments. Thus, there is an opinion among those who work in a sphere of education that children should be taught how to play musical instruments. From my point of view, no one especially children should be obliged to learn how to play the piano, violin and other instruments. To begin with, if make someone learn or do things that she or he does not like, it may lead to negative results. To say that, teenagers, that were pushed by their parents to learn music, start protesting against it. Unfortunately, some of them hate playing musical instruments even those who were good at it. Furthermore, not everyone has an ability to learn such complicated subject as music. It is well-known that some individuals cannot hear notes correctly, in Russia,we usually say "bear stepped on the ear". For such people, music lessons is simply a waste of time and may cause disappointment in self-learning abilities. Thus, compulsory music classes might be harmful to children and affect their mental health. Nevertheless, as creativity is a part of mental processes, which should be developed since the very early days of a child. For example, children are known to become bored from classes, music may help to attract thm to the educational process. Moreover, according to the research music practise directly influence on the brain, making it work better. In this way, by learning how to play music instruments children could improve their overall school performance. To conclude, it is obvious that music lessons have a positive effect on our development, especially at an early age. However, creativity could be improved through drawing, sculpture, carving, dance and many others, so every child could choose any that he or she like more. Numerous characters deem every kid must acquire skill in playing the musical apparatus; in contrast, certain groups of people oppose and affirm it is a wastage of time to become competent in a musical implement. I reckon every youngster must not become capable of playing a musical appliance. First of all, it is an inevitable fact that not every young teenager has artistic talent in learning the musical apparatus as everyone is unique. Individuals just have to find out what field they have a gift so that they will be called a prodigy, after spending a particular time in that field. For instance, it is said that a fish swims in water better than any animals, but it would suffer if the fish gets obliged to climb a tree, the fish will think of itself as a failure for the rest of its life, which is tragic right? Hence, it is just ironic to burden everyone to acquire skill in playing the musical appliance. Secondly, also it is an undeniable fact that the untalented children assigned to become competent in playing an appliance will lose many hours and take damage mentally. Instead of this, it is valuable to spend hours and effort diligently on a thing captivating children' mind. For example, Rayleigh left his daily job to chase his passion for becoming a writer, after years of ups-and-down, he regarded as one of the apt authors in his generation. Thus, it is essential to chase your desired activities but not only musical instruments. In conclusion, from the ideas and examples given, I firmly believe every kid is not obliged to acquire skill in the knowledge of the musical apparatus , as there are many children who despise things relating to music. (9.0) Music is generally known to have an indispensable role in the development of children. For this reason, some educational experts believe that learning to play musical instrumens should be compulsory for them. Yet this belief has win-win benefits for children, the main reasons why I disagree with that, will be provided in this essay. To begin with, nobody can deny that playing musical instruments has numerous advantages for the development of children. To be more clearly, learning how to play musical instruments, intensifies the brain development, especially, in the areas which are responsible not only for acquiring language, listening, reading and motor skills but also for creativity and imagination. Banging on drums, for instance, is scientifically proved to boost physical development. Hence, it is highly advisable to learn musical instruments due to the aforementioned benefits which it generates. Conversely, not every child has an inborn talent for learning certain kind of musical instruments. This means that it is quite arduous for him or her to gain these skills even though many efforts are done. Some children, furthermore, may hardly be eager to pursue music despite the fact that they are talented but instead they have a high interest in other subjects such as Science or Math. In these both cases, forcing them to learn how to play a piano, a flute or a saxophone might potentially lead to devastating consequences including losing self-esteem, feeling aimless or even attempting suicides. Forcing children to learn musical instruments, therefore, has a detrimental impact on the mental development of children. In conclusion, having considered all, I reiterate that freedom for choosing whether to learn to play musical instruments or not, should be given to children, even if it is extremely both psychologically and physically beneficial for children's development.
