Some people think that the most important function of music is to help people relax. To what extent do you agree or disagree? It is widely suggested that aiding relaxation is the fundamental purpose of music. However, I partially agree with this view on the basis that it is not possible to assign one single most significant function to music as a whole. Admittedly, it is true that relaxation can be at times the most important role of music because we need it to help us unwind from daily stress. For instance, genres of music namely classical, jazz and easy-listening produce soothing and mellow melodies which can divert one’s attention from this sense of pressure. If, in contrast, a person did not have an option to listen to music which they found relaxing, they would likely feel more stressed that could lead to burnout However, there are various other crucial functions which music can fulfil. To illustrate, when a person performs a workout at a high intensity in a gym, they are more likely to listen high adrenaline music such as rock, pop or other high-tempo genres alike. If, instead, they chose to listen to relaxing songs, they would not be as energetic and their performance would be harmed. Furthermore, even the same type of music such as in the case of classical can serve a different function, by not only helping to relax but also to focus. The role of music, then, depends on what the listener wants to achieve by playing it. In conclusion, while relaxation is one of the most essential purposes that music can offer due to its ability to enable us to shy away from pressures of life, music at the same time has other functions such as boosting energy and concentration, which can be equally significant depending on the occasion SUPER PLANNING!!! Opinion: Partially Body 1: Relaxation T: Important - Release stress Example: Genres: Classical + easy-listening , jazz --> calming/ soothing + mellow melodies A: no relaxing music R: more stressed --> burnout Body 2: Other functions T: other functions music serves S 1: energy / gym - listen to high-tempo music e.x rock/ pop A/R: relaxing music in gym- reduce productivity S 2: Same music - different function - focus C: Depends of a listener's purpose The charts below show the main methods of transportation for people travelling to one university for work or study in 2004 and 2009 The pie charts compare how students and staff commuted to university via 5 modes of transports in two separate years. Overall, the most popular means of transportation were buses and cars in 2004 and 2009. While car use saw a significant fall over the period, the proportion of people commuting by bus, bicycle, train and on foot increased in question. In 2004, just over the half of people (51%) travelled to the university by car as opposed to 33% of commuters who used buses for the same purpose. After some changes to parking charges took place in 2006, the use of cars experienced nearly a halving to 28% in 2009. By contrast, the figure for buses increased by more than a third to 46% probably because of the introduction of a new bus stop in 2008. Regarding bicycles, they also showed a growth in their use, though less significant one, from 9% to 16% throughout the period. Finally, the other two forms of commuting , namely train and walking, remained relatively insignificant in both years, with merely 7% of users both in total in 2004 and 10 % in 2009. Planning: Overview: - bus / car dominated - car use fell, while others increased Body 1: - bus/ car Body 2: -others Download 224.5 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
