Installing of cameras at schools – Advantage or disadvantage?


As an education centre, schools have a responsibility to ensure the safety of both their students and teachers while on school rooms. CCTV camera surveillance systems are used in schools to maintain safety and security, allowing school and faculty staff to focus on their responsibilities and to prevent any undesirables from gaining access to the site.
In my opinion there are more advantages of installing cameras at schools and I fully support the idea to use surveillance as instrument of control both, students and teachers.


First of all security cameras help to keep student’s safety at the yard of the school and can be used to identify peoples in the school rooms who are not members of the school staff. With support for intelligent video analytics, facial recognition and appearance technology, looking for a perpetrator or suspicious individual no longer require an individual to spend hundreds of man-hours assessing video footage. Up to date, modern surveillance technology allows for search terms to be input to the analytical software that automatically tracks and identifies the wanted individual.


Secondly, safety of the teachers is not less important than student’s safety. Recently we have noticed increasing the violations from both sides, students and teachers
