Jeol Interactive Corporation, Japan JSM-6460LA.
Preparation of stitched CMC
An appropriate amount of CMC solution was stirred for 1 hour at 70 degrees Celsius. A 1% citric acid solution was added as a crosslinking agent and left to stir for another 30 minutes. Then the solution was dried at 70°C until a film formed. The film was crushed with a blender and then ground into powder using a mortar and pestle.
Preparation of a cross-linked starch/CMC mixture
The crosslinked starch/CMC mixture is prepared as follows: An appropriate amount of starch is dissolved in distilled water in a water bath at 80°C for 30 minutes. The dried cross-linked CMC film was ground and dissolved in distilled water. Using a magnetic hot plate, the gelatinized starch (step 1) is mixed with the solution obtained in step 2 for 30 minutes at 70°C. The resulting paste was dried overnight at 90°C, ground and tested. A starch/CMC mixture was prepared by mixing 50% starch and 50% CMC cross-linked with 1% citric acid. Various starch/CMC blend ratios were prepared by mixing starch and CMC in different ratios and their properties were studied. Then 75% starch and 25% CMC were mixed. Finally, 25% starch and 75% CMC were mixed and their properties were studied. The effect of starch content on the properties of the gel was studied under various synthesis conditions.
