TASHKENT – 2023 Self study 8 Task 1 Operations management (OM) is the administration of business practices to create the highest level of efficiency possible within an organization. It is concerned with converting materials and labor into goods and services as efficiently as possible to maximize the profit of an organization. Operations management teams attempt to balance costs with revenue to achieve the highest net operating profit possible. Operations management involves utilizing resources from staff, materials, equipment, and technology. Operations managers acquire, develop, and deliver goods to clients based on client needs and the abilities of the company. Operations management handles various strategic issues, including determining the size of manufacturing plants and project management methods and implementing the structure of information technology networks. Other operational issues include the management of inventory levels, including work-in-process levels and raw materials acquisition, quality control, materials handling, and maintenance policies. The first step in starting a new business is to (2) take a risk. Along with the desire to be one's own boss, most people are motivated by the hope of gaining (3) profits from the business. The second step involves gathering the (4) factors of production and then choosing the most suitable form of (5) business organization. New business owners must learn all they can about the laws, regulations, and tax codes that apply to their operation. Every business involves four elements. Through (6) advertising, owners let others know about the business and the services offered. Once customers know a business, information spreads by (7) word of mouth. As the business grows, there will be more (8) expenses incurred for supplies, raw materials, equipment, and so on. In time, an owner will want to have an (9) inventory of replacement parts to make the business more efficient.
