Living AbroadThere are many reasons a person may end up living abroad: military service, work requirements, marriage and higher education, to name a few. It is an exciting prospect but can be a daunting one, as well. There are pros and cons to becoming an expatriate, so be sure to weigh each side before making the big move.At first, adapting to your new country may be met with many challenges as you try to get used to the different culture. Everything from the currency exchange rate to the national holidays to the weatherAt first, adapting to your new country may be met with many challenges as you try to get used to the different culture. Everything from the currency exchange rate to the national holidays to the weatherwill take some getting used to. You will need to adapt to the social customs of the people, the shop hours, the work ethic, the cuisine and so on. On the other hand, you may end up preferring some of your adopted country's customs to your own and have a new appreciation for previously unfamiliar conventions.Advantages and Disadvantages of Living AbroadIf you are hoping to go abroad to study, what are the main problems you expect to find?
The Problems of Studying AbroadIf you talk with people who have come back from study abroad ,they will tell you that they had difficulties with at leastsome of these things:
Language problemsI can still remember when I first came here, the main problem was understanding whatpeople were saying. It’s true that we learnEnglish in Tashkent, but learning Englishis very different from communicating inEnglish. People here speak English with avery heavy American accent which makesit even harder to understand and besides, they speak very fast too.Living abroad = Living in another cultureSome expected and unexpected problems:
Solutions:1. Attend an orientation course before you leave home2. Seek out people who have returned from study abroad andlearn from their experiencesAdapting to new study patternsThe third area of difficulty, the problems inadjusting to a new style of teaching and learning,is less likely to be discussed before yourdeparture from your own country.Solutions:1. Be ready to change your habits of study as wellas cope with the obvious problems withlanguage and living in a foreign country.2. Be capable of working independently, or usinglectures or textbooks as a starting point forfurther reading and thinking.StatisticsThese are the results for some interviews with students studying or have already studied abroad.Do you want to study abroad? Why Would You Study Abroad?Importance of “Let It Go” While Living AbroadAt least once in our lives, we have all heard the phrase ‘Just let it go!’ from friends, family, or even a figure of authority. This piece of advice could have come to us out of context, something we read in a self-help book, something we tell ourselves when we feel overwhelmed by something which is out of our control, and many such scenarios. Although people are always telling us to ‘let it go,’ not many people tell us how we can do this.
ConclusionAt the end, we would like tothank everyone participatedin this course, our facilitators, other schools andourselves for trying ourbest to come up with such project.Thank You All.Download 1.37 Mb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
