IR final task 1&3
Michael hardt and Antonio negri
Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri are known for their theories on empire, globalization, and resistance. They have written several works together, including "Empire" (2000) and "Multitude" (2004). Empire: Hardt and Negri argue that the current world order, characterized by globalization and the decline of the nation-state, is not just a new phase in world history but constitutes a new form of political power and rule, which they call "empire". They describe it as a decentralized, post-modern form of domination, consisting of a multitude of political, economic, and cultural relationships, that surpasses the boundaries of any one nation-state. Globalization: Hardt and Negri see globalization as a double-edged sword, with both negative and positive aspects. On the one hand, it leads to increased inequality, exploitation, and oppression, but on the other hand, it creates the possibility for a new global political subject, the multitude, to emerge. Resistance: Hardt and Negri believe that the multitude has the potential to resist and subvert empire by creating alternative forms of political organization, power, and culture. They view resistance as a key component of the multitude's struggle against empire, and see it as a means of creating new forms of political and economic organization that can challenge the existing world order. Illustrations: The Arab Spring: The Arab Spring, a wave of popular uprisings in the Arab world that began in 2010, can be seen as an example of the multitude's resistance against empire. The events of the Arab Spring showed how a decentralized and diverse group of people can come together to challenge existing power structures and create new forms of political and cultural organization. Occupy Wall Street: The Occupy Wall Street movement, which started in 2011, is another example of resistance against empire, as it brought together a diverse group of people to challenge the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few. The movement was an expression of the multitude's discontent with the existing economic and political structures and a call for change. The Yellow Vests Movement: The Yellow Vests movement, which began in France in 2018, is another illustration of the multitude's resistance against empire. The movement was a response to economic inequality and political exclusion, and it brought together a diverse group of people from different backgrounds to challenge the existing power structures. The movement was a manifestation of the multitude's desire for a more just and equitable society. Download 389.66 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
