LESSON 4 How to choose a film to watch
H arry P otter is a boy who was brought up by his unkind Muggle (non- 
magical) aunt and uncle. At the age of eleven, half-giant Rubeus Hagrid 
told him that he was a wizard and that his parents were killed by a cruel 
wizard named Lord Voldem ort. Voldem ort also wanted to kill one-year-old 
Harry but his killing magic words did not w ork on Harry. It was strange and 
Harry became very fam ous in the Wizarding World as a result.
The Avengers is a film based on the superhero team. In the film a lot 
of heroes from old film s take part: Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, 
and Captain America. The heroes fig h t against T hor’s brother Loki, who 
wants to be the leader of the world with the help of the space humanoid 
army. The film was successful and collected $1 billion in the world at 
one weekend. The film got the Academ y Award fo r Best Visual Effects.
Home Alone is a 1990 American com edy film about an eight-year-old 
boy, who must take care of his home from two bad men when his fam ily 
m istakenly leaves him at home alone on their Christmas vacation. The 
film received several prizes. Though some people did not like the film,
Home Alone has become a holiday classic among children and adults.

Last week my friends and I went to the cinema to see Harry Potter and 
the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
This film is final in the Harry Potter series. The film finishes the story of 
Harry and his wizard friends, Ron and Hermione. In the film , Harry and his 
friends won the battle against their enemy Lord Voldem ort.
Harry and his friends are grow n-ups in this film , and we can see how 
brave they are. Although it is a film fo r teenagers, the special effects 
are fantastic and som etim es frightening! The film shows good lessons of 
bravery and loyalty. I saw all the film s in the Harry Potter series and did 
not like all, but I enjoyed this film a lot.
