Aims of the lesson

  • understand and give professional talks about safety at work;

  • explore your rights and responsibilities for safety as an employee;

  • read reference materials (on-line and print);

  • produce poster presentations (at exhibitions/conferences);

  • know about the Occupational Health and Safety legislation

  • learn how to refuse unsafe work

To teach students to read and understand about the Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

Individual work for students and provide more information about work safety.

To check students’ understanding about the video and video helps them to build their language skills more tightly

-Explain students that they are going to do the quiz. 1) explain students that they are going to correct the sentence and build up the right structure 2) explain students that they are going to match the given tasks with the provided jobs.



Activity 3

To discuss and compare your ideas with those in the reading text: In what ways can a company’s HR department help promote health and safety within the company?

Explain students that they are going to divide into two groups and read the text provided. Half of the text is given to one group of students and the other one will be given the second one. After having finished reading, students are going to discuss and explain the text parts to one another.
