Children let’s show intermade about classmate.
Pete, Nick – classmates, Kate – Nick’s sister.
Pete: Hi, Kate. May I see Nick?
Kate: He is out. I think he will be back (come home) in 15 minutes. Will you wait for him?
Pete: All right.
Kate: Come in. Sit down. Do you wont to see Nick’s stamp book?
Pete: With pleasure. When did he take up collecting stamps? I know he was interested in
taking photos.
Kate: Not long ago. Now he gives much time to his new hobby.
Pete: As to me, I like to play sports, ride a bicycle or something like this. And what do you
prefer to do in you free time?
Kate: Oh, I try not to be idle. I learn to sew and knit. I like to read books and watch TV. I play
the piano and sing in our school choir. By the way, I have just read some interesting facts about singing. Do you know how singing began?
Pete: I don’t know, but I think it began long ago.
Kate: Yes, people could sing even before writing, more than 7 thousand years ago. There are
pictures on the rocks where people drew dancers, singers and men with musical instruments. They liked music.
Pete: How did people learn to sing?
Kate: Scientists gave the answer to this question. The people of old times lived in groups. Only
together they could get their food and defend themselves from wild animals. They learned to make tools and worked together. It was easier to work with the help of murmuring (“singing”) to each movement of their hands and feet. Now there are songs in many countries which may be children of those first work songs.
Pate: What musical instruments could people play in old times?
Kate: For making first musical instruments they used different things: bones of animals, horns,
pieces of wood. They could make sounds by blowing into horns or animal bones, by beating one piece of wood against a stone or another piece of wood. It is interesting that even now people use horns as musical instruments, and even now they use wood to make musical instruments.
Pete: It’s a pity I can’t play any instrument, but I like listening to music. Will you play the
piano?
Kate: All right, but not now. I think Nick has come.
Well, so our “ABC” party is over. Thank for your attention! Good bye!
