Overall, it is clear that there was an increase in the proportion of both males and females who were overweight. Notwithstanding these growths, the figure for males in terms of obesity was more than females during the whole period.
In 1980, 40% men who lived in Australia suffered from obesity, and this figure started a considerably increase. By the year 2000, the proportion of them reached a peak of around 65%. This proportion, however, slightly decreased for next a decade, with making up nearly 60%.
When it comes to women, their proportion in terms of overweight was less than men, and it was about 30% in the beginning. The rate of this steadily grew by the next two decades, and it was approximately 50%.The percentage of obese women stopped from growth, and this figure remained stable in 2010.
