The bar graph shows the total manufacturing production in percentages Asia, Europe, and the rest of the world.

The bar charts illustrate the total production volume in Asia, Europe and the rest of the world between 1840 and 2000.

Overall, Asia accounted for the largest share of production in 1840 and also this rate remained unchanged at the end of the period. Furthermore, the share of total production in Europe and the rest of the world saw almost similar trends, that is, they witnessed rises in the first part and falls in the final part of this timeframe.

Looking at the downward trends, the total volumes of production in Asia and Europe declined significantly from 50 % till 45% and from 40% till about 28 % respectively. They witnessed opposite trends in the whole period: the total amount of production in Europe reached its peak with 50% in the year 1920, while Asian production fell to its lowest point at 20%. In the final year, however, Asia's manufacturing volume was about 17% higher than Europe's.

As for the upward trend, this belongs to the rest of the continents’ countries. The share considerably increased from 10% to approximately 38% between 1840 and 1960, reaching Europe’s share and then saw decrease till around 33% in the end of the period.
