Season is one of the four periods of the year which are characterized by particular conditions of weather, temperature, etc.
There are four seasons in a year. These are;
Summer
Winter
Spring
Autumn ( in the rest of the world ) / Fall ( used in U.S. )
Each season has three months and its own characteristics. Let see them below;

Attention:
1) The months of the seasons are all capitalized. On the other hand, the seasons are not capitalized.
Examples:
It has been very dry summer.
He died in January.
2)Using “in” and “on” as prepositions with months and seasons of the year
“in” is used with months and seasons. However it is not used for specific days.
Examples:
“on” is used with specific days during a month.
Examples:
My son’s birthday is on 10th May.
They will get married on 30th August.
3)Using “in” or “in the” with seasons
We can use both of them with season. But if we talk about a specific season, we should use “in the” with season.
