Those in search of a new meaning to dance, in a changing world seeded Modern Dance. Dancers wanted to achieve the changing pace of other art forms during this time of transformation, when America was waking up culturally. Modern dance according to Walter Sorell:. Is not so much a system as a state of mind, flexing its individual muscles, stressing its personal artistic dream. What seemed to be a weakness of the new movement was, at the same time its natural forte; the excess of individual expression. (388). Modern Dance began in the late 1800's and early 1900's. It came directly as a revolt, to what was understood as the "restrictions" of ballet. Isadora Duncan was credited as the first dancer to present modern dancing. Duncan's reasons for creating and moving were different from others. . The development of modern dance has given dancers the right of passage in the form of freedom to expression in an artistic manner, and that has accrued to its development and growth in the present time. The major contributors that we have focused upon in class such as Isadora Duncan, Denishawn, and Martha Graham have allowed dance to survive and continue to be reinvented through out time. Many historians say that Isadora Duncan was the first dancer to present "modern dancing" to the public. Duncan felt that the pointe shoes and costumes that ballerinas wore where restrictive. She began to dance in a way that seemed more natural to her. Her inspirations came from the movements of trees, the ocean and other forms of nature. Her techniques included hopping, swaying, skipping, and running. She felt these types of movements where natural and expressive. Also, the history of the Greeks inspired her to dance barefoot and wear tunics similar to those of Greek style. Most Americans knew her as a rebel. She found fame in parts of Europe and Russia. Use this uniCRU response key for ACE your pre-employment questionnaire and learn more about why the personality tests are used for the candidate selection.melanie Shebelwhat is the UniCru personality test? The UniCru personality test is a tool developed by psychologists to help companies find good employees. The content of the test is property and maintained by Kronos, a popular workforce management company whose instruments are used by a wide variety of small and large companies. The UniCru test is a compulsory component of the work process for many important employers, including the best purchase, CVS, Walmart, Kroger, Lowe's, Marriott, Starbucks and others. They use the questionnaire as a method of screening method of potential employees for undesirable characteristics that, in theory, could affect their work. What is the test as? UniCru is nothing but a Personality designed to find suitable applicants for jobs in retail and other customers -Facing Industries. Despite this, many who have taken the test find them confused, stressful or even offensive. For one, he asks for questionnaire questionnaire For their born, that some sources affirm is illegal according to discrimination on age in the work act. Moreover, many of the questions seem that they could have more than a "right" answer. Most people at the level level is assumed that a lot of the test content is truly active for interpretation. In reality, however, there is only one choice of "correct" response for each question. It seems that many of the questions should give to the mixed feelings of rational people, but responding in a warm way (ie by selecting "I accept" or "I do not agree" of "strongly agree" or "strongly disagreement") will involve one Answer incorrectly marked (or at least less correct). It works? Many of the questions about UniCru test seem unnecessary, but actually, they are designed specifically to select for individuals with a particular series of traits that researchers have decided are desirable to employees who deal with customers and collaborators on a regular basis. When Kronos receives a test, they give the applicant a score (which the applicant is not able to see) and forward that the company score applied the applicant. The company is given only the contact information for the highest markers, however. The contact information is provided for those who have not marked; They are entirely excluded. This helps large companies receive many applications save time by automatically eliminating candidates with the traits that workplace psychologists considered unwanted. After applying several jobs that included testing, I learned to avoid openings to companies using Unicru. Why? Do companies using this tool really believe that the highest of the markers will be the best employees? For me, the idea of a person who would get a perfect score on the test without lying down too well to be true. I have the integrity to not lie about the UNICRU application and, for this, I have been excluded from consideration for more work. If that sounds backwards to you, you’re not alone! It harms the diversity of the workplace, my opinion is wrong, it is wrong to use a personality test to determine whether or not a person is eligible for a job. Companies don’t want diversity? Do they just want multiple copies of the same person? Why don’t they just hire robots? Diversity makes things fun and healthy in a work environment. It allows employees to understand different points of view, which ultimately leads to better customer service. It does not personally work a poor customer service poor by employees in companies that use this test as a way to bump candidates. Best Buy, in particular, comes to mind. Is the test broken, or is it as well as customer service should be? The method of selecting the candidate for takeaway is only boring for the potential employee but also immoral, illegal borderline, and a great way to get a person to lie. That’s why I posted some of the questions and answers here “to highlight the unfairness of using personality tests to exclude candidates who have enough integrity to answer a questionnaire honestly. What is a good job and just few personal flaws (as everyone does)? If you’ve been turned against the UNICRU test and you’re hurt and confused about why you didn’t get the job, try a different line of thinking. Do you want to work for a company that wants to hire a homogeneous fleet of clones that lacks individuality? Let’s think of the word UNICRU: UNI = ONECRU CREWUNICRU = a crew “a crew” looks like a group of people conforming themselves-people. That can’t be good. I’m going to find my congressman because I don’t think this kind of petition is gonna work. I don’t think these tests should be used, but I think there’s a better way. Do a case. For those who say that the municipality cannot be fought, it is what they said at the end of 1980 when they banned the use of polygraph tests. It can be done, but after thinking about this, I don't think a petition is exactly the way to do it. FLMez on 18 February, February,a petition on the White House website â sign it and forward it. Make these pre-employment and psychological tests illegal in the hiring process. Truzy from U.S.A. on November 19, 2019:One thing these tests can never evaluate is an individual’s ability to change. That’s why such tests are only useful for “snapshots” of a person at a given time and therefore useless. In addition, adding the fact that some of the applications are illegal indicates a lot about an employer who would like to conduct such tests. Well done, Miss Palin. I love your writing.Mike on October 01, 2018:These assessment tests are just nonsense. They do not represent in any way the behaviour of your workforce. Everyone should read the story of Myers Briggs on which these assessments are based. CEOs and companies don’t want to hire a full-time HR department anymore. I survived five bank mergers during the Clinton administration that should not have merged, laying off thousands of workers. And now Bernie and a lot of Democrats want to dismember banks. No wonder they lost the last election. What we need is for companies to hire qualified people instead of companies looking for the next government bailout. I don’t know which is worse than corporate welfare or personal welfare. But there are a lot of people who want to work and these assessments don’t help.Janet on February 06, 2018:I think these tests should be banned along with the financial questions that some of these employers/personnel agencies ask themselves, such as: “Are you now or have you received in the last 6 months unemployment benefit, meal vouchers, snaps, TANT or Chip?” Really? I’m looking for a job, not a hand; I’m not applying for a job or going for interviews to feel embarrassed by their line of questions, leaving me, along with the feeling of embarrassment, violated and humiliated.I’m looking for a job that can contribute my work experience in trying to become part of a team, and contribute to the growth of a company for a salary. I have been called by my employer because of a “workforce reduction”; I am in my sixth month of unemployment and find that being in my late fifties with a minor disability is enough to limit my job search without having to fill out insufficient test/questionnaire forms.I will continue my search, knowing through my faith in God and submit to His will, that He will guide me and guide me where He chooses and “truly” there will be no wrong answers to His test.Melanie on January 26, 2018:These tests put both parties in a position to lie at the beginning. The employer says “there are no wrong answers” The potential employee is in a position to tell them what Feel. No one hears the true truth. Who benefits?Juls on June 23, 2017:I don’t agree with any personality tests”.You’d rather not get involved in other people’s problems” I don’t think it’s my business to get involved in colleagues' personal problems. (they should leave it at home) so I’d say SA. However the answer key says SD.Take a distribution and one of the questions, “Look back and feel bad about the things you’ve done”.HELL YEA!!!Of course it would SA well their answer key is SD. Have you ever been around someone who talks a lot and you’re trying to meet a deadline? They can be annoying. The answer key says SD for me would be SA. I think I just failed and no longer qualify for the job.I don’t think these tests should be based on employment. It is the experience of people, skills and work history. Even calling their previous employer should be enough.B.Thompson October 27, 2016:Let corrupt corporate America continue to practice this kind of discrimination, and America will have 75% of Donald Trump’s followers instead of 45%.Perhaps that’s the goal of dismantling democracy. Corporate-controlled media will not dare to publish some of the real reasons for high unemployment.I am not surprised by such immoral behaviour.Rich on June 27, 2016:The answer is simple. Crystal April 12, 2016:My Life Is Relatively Slow and Easy GoAgree or DisagreeRose December 09, 2015:My comment on this BS is. I took more than a couple of theses so-called assessment tests and all failed. When I look at the people who work for the companies I applied for, I started to see a pattern. My conciseness is, without discrimination, that most of the people I saw working at that place were in my eyes low-income people and with that note I am not against helping people of that condition but also myself and many like me are desperately looking for a job. My answers are as sincere as I will ever be with great attention to people and businesses and I still can’t pass these tests. I’ve been doing some research on what these tests are. Reading this article helped me a few what I thank you for reading my commentary on this new way of eradicating potential great employees.Melissa Goldsborough on June 22, 2015:Because we agree with this in society. It’s causing high unemployment rates when people stop trying and trying and trying. Our president does not take such a test to become the leader of our country and anyone running for president would think it was absurd. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, manufacturing companies and many other normal people who really do their jobs don’t rely on this shit. After carefully reading the application or resume and take the time to interview and talk with and get the feel for the invidules you apply. You would trust a computer to identify a serial killer to a person who has dedicated his life to The others? No. I don't trust this crap that will tell me if this person is a good and devoted worker. sometimes people get tired of being asked about 100 questions about crap that has nothing to do with whether they are willing and able to stand up and come to work every single day in time. Since most of theRetail jobs move the boxes of products from one position to another and putting the merit for the floor for the customer, what does the questions about how someone prohibits to see their self on how the openings, friends, family and opinion of stray cats have had to deal with the individual Executing simple duties? By pressing on June 17, 2015: @sickoftests - uh, if you say, "I'll raise my voice", then you're saying: "I speak loud, usually because I'm angry." And even if you've spoken out loud because you were exuberant or happy or just neutral, you're saying that we usually speak strong, that rejects most people, and makes them feel uncomfortable, or probably offended because they feel you're yelling at them rather than talking to them. Raymond Kovach on April 2, 2014: for what it is worth, there is a company in misery - I had incredibly frustrated with these tests. I'm not sure I've passed anyone - and I'm not low IQ, many years of business experience, managed employees. The answers go beyond the usual questions of trap interview. There is no way to answer many of the questions correctly. In fact, they seem designed to weed smarter people. And maybe this is the real value for these stupid companies. They're so scared to hire someone who will stop when a better opportunity comes, they'd rather have a dumb, docile, robot. As it would be better than getting the benefit of the experienced people, although for a short time, I can't understand. Especially when you think of the average longevity of a teenager (which I assume is what they are doing for). This is the only explanation I can find with. You have companies that hire HR people who are fresh out of college, where they were fed a constant diet of Psycho Babble and bought in and convinced the padded shirt, counting beans with the MBA count which will help the intake process. If you read the questions you come to the obvious conclusion - answering honestly will not pass and will respond with common sense with what you think that the right answer will not pass. There's some sort of alien they're looking for, and obviously they don't fit the bill. That I guess that's a compliment. In the words of Groucho Marx: "I would not like to be a member of any club that would have me a member." Bluebeach on March 27, 2014: @ Personnel: I took the graffet test, and I think his crap and a trash test to interview people. I have a good work ethic and experience. I was applying for technical support on staples. I was wondering why I never heard a call and I understand why. I never knew I was marked on these tests. But I'm happy now because I was hired by RHT for support and doing much more than the scratches would ever pay me and I didn't have to take a UNICRU BS test.I had to take a test to validate my abilities with computers and networking and exceeded. Oh, about the UniCru test must add a mathematical component to the test because I run in a uniCRU test person at the Office Depot, and this woman couldn't do Arithmetic math. I was buying items that totals $5.60 and I have her $10.00. We got stuck because the cashier wasn’t adding or subtracting. I said ma’am, I have $10 and the item costs $5.60, so that means you gave me back $4.40. Then he called the manager and it wasn’t better because he came with a pen and a calculator. I said my change would be $4.40. After about 15 minutes holding the line, they actually realized it was $4.40 when I did the math in my head. If Unicru is helping to hire people who can’t do simple maths, I feel sorry for this company in the retail workforce.personnel on March 15, 2014: I imagine this post will be lost among the many, but it will try to Help. As someone who has hired and fired thousands of people I can give you a little insight about these tests. What comes down to is this: not everyone is cut out to do every job. Some jobs require introverts, aggressive, strong personalities and other jobs require empathy, care and social skills. If you are doing tests and are denied because of the results of these tests, what it tells you is that you are applying for the wrong kind of job. There are many very good sites out there that allow you to test for free. What you want to do is take these tests and recommend the types of jobs best suited to your personality. Then, when you take these tests, your personal characteristics will help you, not hurt you. Another thing, like someone who interviewed thousands of people about my career and used tests almost everything during this time I would look for “honesty” and “integrity” tests. While some might be valid, many are not. We tested our employees so we wouldn’t test employees, but try the tests. We found some are not very accurate. When you give a key to an employee for 5 years and you’ve never had a theft problem and the tests come back indicating a problem with honesty or reliability, those tests are just the Bs personality assessment tests. But Personality seem to be very valid. If you are “failing”, they tell you something that is very valuable: you should look for a different kind of job.Mickey Mixon on February 9, 2014: evidently, the risks of pre-employment screening that is not done thoroughly are not a new story for most of us. Along with other things, such careless and incomplete pre-hiring screening opens up a dodge that the wrong people may have access to the organization as employees.Stryk on November 11, 2013: the test was a test of wonder. Their website says they are not allowed to release test results to buyers and contact employers. So I asked them if they consider introverted, they sent me an email saying they can’t release results. a signature line that says "We care about everyone" Stryk on November 07, 2013: I recently applied to a company for a job, I know that I am more than qualified and I would improve my life. I was ashamed to admit it I didn't understand which testIt was, but he had many questions mentioned above. He imagined naively that no human being was perfect and should have looked over people who responded perfectly. I answered honestly and in the end I said confidence to the person I had finished some work on the computer then printed my score. She told me I failed, she quickly turned the press to show me. I wasn't satisfied with this, so I centered to watch the press myself, but it didn't allow me. The thing you were able to take was a really low stability score. I was stunned, which I could fail to do this. I worked on my current job for two years, I hated it, yet I brought forward and do my best. If this is not considered stable, I don't know what it is. I looked at her in her eyes worried about her, thanked you on the left. Now everything I think I think is because she was worried? I'm not brutato, I didn't make aggressive moves, and she had nothing to worry about me. Now I wonder if these tests can be manipulated by the companies themselves.
