The line graph above compares average CO2 emissions per person in four countries between 1967-2007.
Overall, individual carbon emissions per person steadily dropped in UK and Sweden whereas emissions per person significantly rised in Italy and Portugal. Despite the steady reduction, average emissions in the UK were the highest in the given peiod.
Among the selected countries the CO2 emissions of individuals in the UK were the highest throughout four decades. In 1967, the average emissions per person were nearly 11 metric tonnes which is fallen to 9 metric tonnes in 2007. Somewhat similarly, the average CO2 emissions per person in Sweden were about 9 metric tonnes in 1967. The emissions sharply jumped to 11 metric tonnes in 1977 and emissions continuously fell, dropping to just 5.5 metric tonnes in 2007.
In both Italy’s and Portugal’s CO2 emissions per person increased between 1967 and 2007. Portugal’s CO2 emissions, almost rised 4 times which was 1.5 metric tonnes in 1967 and increased to 5.5 in 2007 similar with average of Sweden.
