Activity one (5 min): Review
Procedure:
List five phrases of comparison and five of contrast. Use them to compare and contrast any two things at your school. Write about 6 sentences. Share your sentences with the whole class.
Activity two (10 min): Compare and contrast paragraph writing (pair work)
Procedure:
Choose any two types of sport and find their differences and similarities. Write compare and contrast paragraph using one of the paragraph organizations (block or point by point organization). Share the completed work with the rest of the class.

Homework (2 min):
Write compare and contrast paragraph on free topic. Use the learnt materials about compare and contrast paragraph writing; materials about the structure and paragraph organization. Topic can be about two famous people, two things or two popular places. Write about ten sentences.

§ 2.2. Exercises, activities, games
Activity 1: Running dictation
Students work in pair. One of them is reader and the other one is writer. The reader dictate and writer put it down.
What you will need:
Handouts with texts
What to do:

• 
  Make/find the story/paragraph of no more than eight sentences.
  
• 
  Cut the sentences of the story or paragraph and place them in different points around the classroom.
  
• 
  Put the students in pairs. One is the reader and the other one is the writer.
  
• 
  Tell the students how many sentences there are around the classroom.
  
• 
  The reader should go around the classroom finding pieces of the story and return to tell the writer.
  
• 
  You can do this twice with other passages or just tell students to change roles.
  
• 
  There is no clue to the sequence of the sentences so the pair has the task of putting the text in order when they have completed the writing stage.
  

The process of looking for the parts of the story or passage motivates the students to be active. Putting the pieces in order teaches the chronological order of any kind of written work.
Activity 2: Guess who
Guessing game among the students helps in identifying whether they know each other well enough.
