As a result, evaluation provides data for decision-making. Therefore, evaluation is a methodical process of gathering evidence regarding students' achievement in both cognitive and noncognitive learning areas that serves as the basis for making judgments and decisions.

Teaching and Learning Evaluation Evaluation is an essential component of any teaching and learning program. Evaluation occurs whenever a question is posed and answered. Accordingly, both educating and assessment cross-over and converge into one another. In point of fact, evaluation is essential to both teaching and learning.

Both educating and assessment depend on the educational targets which give guidance to them. Educational targets are those advantageous ways of behaving which are to be created in understudies. Instruction is given to achieve the instructional objectives, and evaluation is done to determine whether and to what extent the instructional objectives have been achieved. The interrelationship of targets, educational cycle or the opportunity for growth and evaluatiot in a program of instructing can be communicated all the more plainly through the accompanying outline:

The three components of teaching and learning are depicted in the preceding diagram as an integrated network in which each component is dependent on the others. Subsequently, through assessment, the educator not just evaluates regarding how far the understudy has accomplished the goals of instructing yet in addition passes judgment on the viability of the growth opportunities, philosophies, implies and the materials utilized for accomplishing those targets.

The purpose of evaluation in education is diverse. It is used to grade, rank, classify, compare, and promote students. It is also used to verify a student's completion of a course, select students for admission or scholarships, and predict their future success in various endeavors.

The sole purpose of evaluation has been to improve education quality by providing feedback on students' learning, classroom instruction, curriculum effectiveness, and course content. When used to develop students' non-cognitive abilities, evaluation also contributes to the overall development of students' personalities.

What Makes a Good Evaluation Program? The following characteristics of a good evaluation program in educational institutions are derived from the meaning, types, and purpose of evaluation.

Evaluation is a Dynamic Process Evaluation provides evidence regarding the effectiveness of a learning experience. It is based on learning experiences. Consequently, assessment continues approving the entire educating growing experience through standard criticism. As a result, the evaluation program injects life into the educational process and fosters ongoing improvement.
