The Swamp Mennonite Church Board is pleased to introduce to you Nathan Good, our candidate for both part-time positions of Youth Pastor and Minister of Music and Worship.
Nathan was born at Grand View Hospital and is the grandson of Ada Rosenberger. He grew up at Rocky Ridge Mennonite Church, About 10 years ago, he moved to Christ Community Bible Church (CCBC) in Perkasie, where he is currently attending and serving. He attended Quakertown Christian School through fifth grade and completed his education through home schooling. He went on West Chester University where he received a BA in Sociology and Psychology.
Nathan grew up in a very musical family. He learned to play piano at the age of 4 and later went on to learn the violin, guitar, bass, drums, mandolin and other instruments. His family sang together as a band for 6 years and made a CD in 2000. Nathan went on to lead worship at his youth group for three years. He also did an internship with the music director and lead Pastor of his church. He has the experience of leading worship is many different settings. This past year, Nathan has served as the interim music director at CCBC, filling in while the other music director was on sabbatical. His time in this position ended July 31.
It is apparent that Nathan has a heart for youth. He has given of his time to mentor two youth in his congregation. Nathan served as a camp counselor for a summer at Haycock Camping Ministries where he worked with children and teens, teaching them about God and the Christian walk while also maintaining a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Nathan has also had opportunities to return to Rocky Ridge to work with the youth there. He has a great desire to see youth as active participants within the Church. Nathan recognizes that he does not have formal education in youth ministry and is happy to receive support and take courses to help him grow in this role. Nathan is approachable, outgoing, easy to talk to and has an obvious love for Christ, the Church and the lost.
In the future, Nathan plans to attend Hatfield Biblical Seminary to earn a Masters in Divinity and to continue to grow in his ability to serve God and others. Nathan is excited to be getting married this fall to Dana Snyder. In his free time, Nathan likes to read, run, garden, make campfires, hang out with friends, can pickles and jams, play violin and mandolin on his front porch, and many other things.
Nathan's favorite passage of Scripture Philippians 2:1-11; he cannot get over the fact that the Creator of the universe would be willing to put on human flesh and become so humble as to bear the punishment for His enemy's rebellion. Nathan lives every day indebted to his great Savior and relishing the fact that God's Spirit now lives within him and that God actually desires to work through Him. Nathan has made it the goal of his life to bring people to a greater understanding of God’s restorative purposes in their own lives and in the world as a whole, in order that they may love God and their neighbor and share this message of restoration and forgiveness with others.
Over the next 6 weeks you will have opportunities to get to know Nathan and his fiancé.
