The tables illustrate how much coffee and bananas were sold in five European countries in 1999 and 2004. Units are measured in millions of Euros and coffees and bananas were produced by farmers of developing nations.
Overall, coffee sales increased in all the countries in the given years, and dramatic increases in sales of both, bananas and coffee were recorded in the UK. Furthermore, Banana sales only dropped in Belgium and Sweden in 2004.
The consumption of coffee was higher in Switzerland and Denmark in 1999 which generated 3m and 1.8m in sales respectively. Moreover 1.5 million Euros of sales were recorded in the UK. Respective figures for Belgium and Sweden were 1m and 0.8m. However, in 2004, a dramatic rise in sales figures by more than 13 times was recorded in the UK and also doubled in Switzerland.
Regarding banana sales, Switzerland earned 15 million Euros in 1999, increasing to the figure of 47 million in 2004. The UK increased by more than 3 times in 2004. In contrast, sales figures in Sweden and Denmark were 1.8m and 2m respectively which dropped by 1m and 0.9m in 2004.
