  1. The topic that I chose for my presentation is dedicated to “franchising”. I hope this would be useful to all people gathered here. The first question that should be answered before I go to the main part is “what is franchising?”.



  1. Under a franchise, two parties enter into a Franchise Agreement. In simple words, franchising is an agreement that allows the franchisee to use the franchisor’s brand name and sell its products or services. It should be highlighted that It is a well-known marketing strategy for business expansion these days …




  1. There are two parties of the franchise agreement. They are the franchisor and the franchisee. On the one hand, the franchisor is a person or corporation that owns and runs a business or an idea. The franchisor may grant franchising rights or license to one or more individuals or firms. On the other hand, the franchisee is a person or corporation that buys franchisor’s license to run the business under the franchising agreement. In other words, franchisee acts like a dealer.



  1. You may ask what is process and characteristics of the franchise? This all starts from the point when two parties agree to work together and finally sign the legally binding contract with all necessary provisions. As soon as the contract is signed franchisee acquires the rights to market and distribute the franchisor’s products or services using its business plan, brand name, and trademarks.   1. During the lifetime of the franchising agreement, franchisor supports the franchisee in critical areas like marketing, technology and staff training.   1. Now I would like to tell about advantages of the franchising. I decided to discuss advantages for both of the parties. I would start with the advantages for franchisor. Firstly, it is a great way to expand a business without incurring additional costs on expansion. This is because all expenses of selling are borne by the franchise. Secondly, this further also helps in building a brand name, increasing goodwill and reaching more customers. Thirdly, giving license for franchise will lead to increased profits.

If to come to the advantages for franchisee the first advantage that comes to the mind is franchisor’s support. The franchisor will provide helpful support and training along the way, which makes the experience comparatively easy. Secondly, as a result of the franchisor support, it means the franchisee needs little business experience because they will be taught. Everything is already set up. That leaves the franchisee to think about the day-to-day management instead of the wider business factors. Furthermore, the franchise also does not need to spend money on training and assistance because the franchisor provides this. Finally, sometimes a franchisee may get exclusive rights to sell the franchisor’s products within an area.




  1. It is time to move to the disadvantages part. First disadvantage for the franchisor is that franchisor does not possess direct control over the sale of its products. As a result, its own goodwill can suffer if the franchisor does not maintain quality standards. Furthermore, the franchisee may even leak the franchisor’s secrets to rivals.

On the other hand, one of the main disadvantages for franchisee is that there is no complete control over business. He always has to adhere to policies and conditions of the franchisor. Secondly, shared profits. Franchisee always has to pay some royalty to the franchisor on a routine basis. In some cases, franchisee may even have to share its profits with the franchisor.

The franchise agreement is the legal contract between the franchisor and franchisee that outlines the terms and conditions of the franchise relationship.
