The "Municipal-Museum" of Galatina was born with the dedication to Pietro Cavoti January 15, 1936 following the idea of Cosimo De Giorgi, a great friend  of Cavoti, who wanted to offer the student a public recognition and was afraid of a possible leakage collection. This of his immense collection was then donated to the City of Galatina by Raffaele Torricelli (grandson of Cavoti), which with public testament of 1931, he left the public library all his books and all of the illustrations in the Museum of the Church of Santa Caterina made by Pietro Cavoti and still prints, documents, engravings, paintings, etc.. It is divided into 8 rooms of which one is dedicated to the phenomenon of "tarantismo", contains various nineteenth-century watercolors and drawings of the original print illustrations of the "History Ancient Italy "of Cavoti, stone material from medieval times, a slab with an inscription messapica of pre-Christian times, some of the paintings seventeenth and eighteenth century, the works of “Pietra Leccese” and carved from noble palaces and ecclesiastical buildings of Galatina, scrolls with administrative measures , sculptures and fragments of frescoes from the Basilica of Saint Catherine of Alexandria.
