1. Types of English Pronunciation

There is a wide variety of pronunciations for every language, including the English language. In the British Isles, the pronunciation of almost every place has specific characteristics that differentiate it from other English pronunciation varieties. In addition, pronunciation is socially affected, it is influenced by education. At the same time, both of these varieties in com have much more.

The varieties that are spoken only in some areas by a socially small number of people are known as dialects.

The increased mobility of the population, the concentration of the population in the cities, the dialectal differences are becoming less marked due to the communication media (radio, TV, cinema).

That, of course, does not mean that a Manchester dialect speaker's pronunciation does not differ from a London dialect speaker's pronunciation. The less educated part of the population is, as a rule, dialect speakers. Pronunciation usually tends to comfort to a particular standard with the more educated people. The number of local speech dialects is being reduced in English today.

The number of local speech dialects is being reduced to fewer, more or less common, regional forms in present-day English.

The characteristics that are common to all the dialects used in the area characterize any regional form of pronunciation. The dialects, in turn, are marked by a range of peculiarities unique to each of them, one from another.
