Activity 2a Look, listen and repeat. 10 min
Objective: to introduce Yes/No questions and short answers
STEP 1: Draw the pupils’ attention to the 1st picture. Ask them to read the bee’s question and the hedgehog’s answer. Elicit answers. Establish that in Uzbek the question is “Siz arqonda sakrashni yoqtirasizmi?” and the answer “Ha.” In Russian it is “Вы любите прыгать со скакалкой?” and “Да.” Further explain that English people say most of such Uzbek or Russian questions through “Do you...?” and they answer shortly “Yes, I/we/they do.” if the answer is positive or “No, I/we/they don’t” if the answer is negative as the cat says in the second picture. After that ask the pupils to read the bee’s question to the cat and the cat’s answer.
STEP 2: Now ask the pupils repeat the questions and answers after you or the DVD individually, in rows and chorus.
