UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO ALUMNI CLUB OF ITALY ALUMNI CLUB OF ITALY 2011 SCHOLARSHIP
ART. 1 The University of Chicago Alumni Club of Italy Association (the “Association”) announces the second edition of the national contest for the awarding of a scholarship in favour of Italian students admitted into a graduate course at the University of Chicago (the “scholarship”).
ART. 2
Students admitted and enrolled in a graduate course for the year 2010-2011 at the University of Chicago are eligible.
ART. 3 The scholarship gross amount is US $ 7000.
ART. 4
Complete and signed application must be sent: (i) by certified mail to University of Chicago Alumni Club of Italy, via Manzoni 12, 20121, Milano, to the attention of Duccio Regoli, by 1 February, 2011 and (ii) by e-mail to regoli@mazzonieassociati.it , Cc
SZattarin@kpmg.it on the same day of the certified mail. The mail stamp of the recipient post office shall be deemed to be the evidence of the application submission date.
ART. 5
The application for the scholarship must include: -
-
address, electronic mail and phone number of the applicant; -
declaration of acceptance of all the conditions set in the present tender including Art. 10; -
declaration of confidential authorization for use and disclosure of personal information in compliance with the current legal provisions.
ART. 6 The application must include also:
a)
personal resume with education details; b)
documentation proving the enrolment for the academic year 2010-2011 to a graduate course of the University of Chicago; c)
d)
transcripts of the grades or evaluation of the doctoral thesis or the most recent grades obtained in an official examination must be provided (including grades and evaluation of the previous academic year if the applicant was already enrolled in a University of Chicago graduate course during the year 2009/2010); e)
a statement whereby the candidate informs as to whether he/she has been awarded other scholarship, grant or financial aid by private or government institutions.
The documents listed under letter b) and d) in the present article can be provided by mean of equivalent self-certified declarations valid under the terms of law or by providing the originals certificates or notarized copies. Publications and doctoral thesis conformity to the originals can be certified by the applicant by mean of an equivalent self-certified declaration valid under the terms of law. If the applicant uses the equivalent self-certified declaration he/she must include a copy of a valid identification document in due course.
ART. 7 The scholarship will be awarded to the winning applicant by a Commission composed of three members one of which will be a member of the Executive Committee of the Association, one will be a professor of the University of Chicago and one a prominent scholar. The latter two members will be appointed by the Executive Committee of the Association.
The Commission will evaluate: the resume, the grades, the relevance and the actuality of the topics researched in the publications and/or doctoral thesis. The Commission will also take into consideration the unavailability to the applicant of other scholarship, grant or any other financial aid whatsoever.
ART. 8 The scholarship will be awarded by February 28, 2011. The Commission however will have the possibility not to assign the scholarship in the light of the evaluations described in the above article 7.
ART. 9
The information and documentations provided by the applicants will be used only in relation to the awarding of the scholarship and will be held only for the time necessary in order to carry out such selection.
ART. 10
Within 30 days by the end of the academic year 2010-2011 the scholarship’s recipient will have the duty to provide to the benefit of the Association and its members a paper from 3 to 5 pages about the more significant University of Chicago Faculty research achievements in its field and a summary about the more recent news and achievements of the University if Chicago during the academic year.

ART. 12
This scholarship and its regulation are subject, if needed, to Italian law.
