ABSTRACT:
The results of content analysis of modern scientific publications devoted to innovations are presented. 
The development of innovation in the country is closely linked to the results in the field of science. In 
this regard, it is particularly important to identify the main trends in the publication activity of Russian 
scientists. 2451 publications were used. The methodology of automated content analysis is used, which 
makes it possible to draw conclusions about the topics that arouse the greatest interest based on the 
frequency of mentioning individual words and phrases. According to the results of the content analysis, 
the attention of researchers studying innovation is focused on the management and implementation of 
innovations (2.7% of the total number of publications in the field of innovation). Research is often limited 
to a narrow field of application. The most common topics of innovation research are as follows: problems 
that arise during the implementation of innovations (0.8%); innovations related to the transition to the 
digital economy (0.6%); and innovations that can be a factor in improving, for example, competitiveness 
or efficiency, or labour productivity (0.5%). The practical significance of this work is that on the basis 
of key topics related to innovation, emerging authors will be able to choose topics for their research, 
understand which research problems have accumulated a large amount of material, and which topics 
still need to be covered in Russian science. The results obtained in this work can become the basis for 
further research related to innovation.
