Network. A network is a number of computers and peripheral devices
connected together so as to be able to communicate (i.e. transfer data).
Internet - a global computer network of many local, regional, corporate
networks, and perhaps hundreds of millions of computers. IP-address.
In order for the exchange of information computers can find each other
on the Internet there is a uniform addressing system is based on using
IP-address. Every computer connected to the Internet has a unique 32-
bit (in binary) IP-address. E-mail - the most common Internet services,
as is historically the first information service computer networks and
does not require the availability of high-speed and high-quality
communication links.
Keyboard The peripheral used to input information into a computer or
some other form of digital device. It provides a set of alphabetic,
numeric, punctuation, symbol, and control keys. When a character is
pressed, it sends a coded input to the computer, which then displays a
character on the screen. When you hear the term "numeric keypad," it
refers to the set of numbers on the right-hand side of some keyboards
(not the numbers in the top row, above the letters). Numeric keypads
also refer to the numbers (and corresponding letters) on a cell phone.
Hard Disk When you save data or install programs on your computer, the
information is typically written to your hard disk. The hard disk is a spindle of
magnetic disks, called platters, that record and store information. Because the
data is stored magnetically, information recorded to the hard disk remains intact
after you turn your computer off. This is an important distinction between the
hard disk and RAM, or memory, which is reset when the computer's power is
turned off. The hard disk is housed inside the hard drive, which reads and writes
data to the disk. The hard drive also transmits data back and forth between the
CPU and the disk. When you save data on your hard disk, the hard drive has to
write thousands, if not millions, of ones and zeros to the hard disk. It is an

amazing process to think about, but may also be a good incentive to keep a
backup of your data.
