Week 3 Formative Assessment Classroom Profile Khalilova Kamola A profile of learners I chose four students who are between 15 and 16 years old. They are second years of student at academic lyceum of the Uzbek State University of World Languages. English language is taught to them as main language , in the class mainly integrated language skills are taught and their level is Intermediate (B1) which they can introduce themselves freely , make complex sentences with a bit mistakes, also they have a good level of fluency and accuracy. However, they still make some mistakes in oral and written speech. For example, student A has been learning English for 4 years , she is good at reading and listening. She always works on her mistakes , so that l can see her good results at every exam. Student b has started to learn English since school period , he is always active at class, also he is prepared his homework on time. However, at exam period he gets lower scores. Student C has been learning English for 7 years , also he takes extra language courses to improve English language. He is good at reading, speaking and listening. After each exam he works on his mistakes and searches answers from other sources, highlights his mistakes. All the students are preparing for IELTS exam to enter foreign university. So that to assess their English knowledge and make assessment for them , firstly, I try to know about their literacy background and knowledge base. According to Lenski ( 2006) “ before selecting assessment instruction, educator determines why they are testing students”. Also assessments provide teachers with main information about students’ knowledge, for example , some students can do reading task properly, or some of them cannot do it . Hence , assessments help teachers to realize how much students’ results change in each exam. Their main goal is to improve their level from B1 to B2 or C1. Teacher - created assessment. Three lesson ago, l explained one reading type,such as True,false,Not given. During the lesson students did the type of reading for formative assessment.
