Weekly writing 3 Describe two different modern states? There are two different kinds of states which are called nation-tastes and modern states. We can observe several differences between them. The fact that nation states first emerged in Europe, whereas modern states emerged from nation states, is what distinguishes them from one another. The identity of the people living in the states is the primary distinction between nation states and modern states. People with a common language, culture, and identity fought the monarchy in a nation-state to establish a people-run nation. Modern states, on the other hand, are more developed versions of them with better centralised authority and administration. In the nation state the individuals share identity regarding the culture, customs and language whilst in the modern state the persons from the different identities unites at peace. Inthe nation state we can face that the nation and state are in harmony, and since the nation state has the common identitity, it has a single government as well. In terms of the modern state, it shows authority and centralised power and these sort of nations are more likely to be open to having international interactions and decent identities. When it comes to the peoples’ ideologies, in nation-states they have similar backgrounds and ideologies and that is why the nation state’s formation is based on those peoples’ will while the modern state is the advanced version of the nation state and its residents have different bases. Define sources of power of two states? Both of the states have their own powers according to the realists and there are some misunderstandings and disagreements between those realists. Some realists see power as the sum of the state's military, economic, technological, diplomatic, and other capabilities. Others see power as capabilities compared to those of other states rather than an absolute value that is determined for each state as though it were in a vacuum. A materialist view refers to either of these definitions, which treat a state's capabilities in isolation or in relation to those of other states. Additionally, both make the following assumption: Whether viewed in isolation or in relation to other states, it is a state characteristic that encompasses all of its capabilities. The interactions between states are the focus of a different, dynamic definition of power. A state's ability to influence or coerce other states is not only determined by its capabilities (or relative capabilities), but also by its willingness to use these capabilities and its control over other states (or influence over them). Consequently, power can be inferred from the interactional behavior of states. The outcomes of their interactions best illustrate the states' relative power. Download 41.35 Kb.
