About symbols of Uzbekistan and great Britain

The national symbols of Uzbekistan are defined in Article 5 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan. They consist of the Flag, the Coat of Arms, and the National Anthem.

About flag

  • The Law «About the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan " was adopted in November 18, 1991 in the eighth session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
  • Symbolism of the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan continues the best traditions, peculiar to the flags of the powerful empires, existed on the territory of our country, at the same time reflects the natural features of the country, national and cultural originalities of the people.
  • Sky-blue colour on the flag is the symbol of the blue sky and clean water. Azure colour is hallowed in the East, it was chosen once by the great Amir Timur for his flag.
  • White color is a symbol of peace and purity. The young independent state must overcome high passes on its way. White color on the flag means good wishes so that the path should be clean and light.
  • Green colour is the embodiment of the fertile nature. At present there is a growing worldwide movement for preservation of the environment in the world, the symbol of which is also green.
  • Red stripes are the life force, pulsing in every living creature, a symbol of the life.
  • The crescent corresponds to centuries-old tradition of the people of Uzbekistan. The crescent and the stars are the symbol of peace cloudless sky. On our flag there are 12 stars. The number 12 is considered a sign of perfection.

About the Coat of Arms

The Law «About the State Emblem of the Republic of Uzbekistan» was adopted in July 2, 1992 in the tenth session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In the center of the Emblem there is drawn a bird Khumo with open wings — the symbol of happiness and freedom. Our great ancestor Alisher Navoi called Khumo as the kindest creature among all of living things.

In the top of the Emblem there is octahedron, symbolizing mark of confirmation of the republic, and inside of it there are the crescent and the star.

The picture of the sun — a wish that the way of our country should be illuminated by bright light. At the same time it points out the unique natural-climatic conditions of the country.

Ears — a symbol of a daily bread, stems with opening cotton bolls — the main wealth of our sunny country, made it famous in the world. Ears and cotton bolls interweaved with the ribbon of the State Flag mean consolidation of the nations, living in the country.
