A Korean student makes furniture from used medical masks. How many masks do you need to make one stool? 1,500 Korean Kim Ha Neul answers. Tired of the waste of polypropylene-based disposable face masks, a furniture designer is melting them into stools. He named the stools “Stack and Stack”.

In June, Kim set up a box to collect masks at Kaywan University of Arts and Design, where he studies. Since then, he has collected 10,000 masks and received more than a ton of unusable masks from the factory. To reduce the chances of contracting a coronavirus, Kim keeps the masks in storage for at least 4 days. He then removes the rubber bands and melts the mask fabric by heating it to 300 degrees. Now Kim plans to make other furniture, such as chairs and tables with masks.
