  • Dr. Saskia WILLEMSE from the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss has been nominated as a Domain Committee delegate of ESSEM by Switzerland

  • Dr. Mathias ROTACH from the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss has been nominated as a Domain Committee expert of ESSEM by Switzerland

  • Professor Unal SORMAN from Water Resources Division K4-111, Department of Civil Engineering, Engineering Faculty of the Middle East Technical University, has been nominated as a Domain Committee expert of ESSEM by Turkey





ESSEM DC ESR Grant

  • Second call for DC ESR Grant: deadline on 1st September:

  • ES0601 – Dr. Enric Aguilar - American Geophysical Union’s Fall Meeting (AGUFM) – 15-19 December 2008 - San Francisco

  • Was examined and approved by the DC Core Group, but unfortunately the abstract was not accepted by AGUFM

  • As 3 DC ESR Conference Grant are available per year, one already allocated, 2 collecting dates have been launched:

  • 28 February 2009 and 31 March 2009

  • The conference can be held in June or July 2009



ESSEM DC ESR Grant

    • TDP-SAB hearing session on 12th March, 6 proposals

Call for volunteers: TDP-SAB assessors

  • Pool of experts for TDP assessment of pre-proposals in the Open Call.

  • In order to ensure a sufficient number of experts for the assessors’ allocation during the TDP pre-proposals evaluation while keeping the number of assessments per reviewer at a reasonable level.

  • Not be part of the TDP-SAB, but can be used at the TDP-SAB Chair's discretion.

  • 10 DC members to participate in the evaluation process of the pre-proposals, in case of need.

  • In case there are not enough volunteers within the DC, external experts, e.g. DC experts.



Annual Progress Conference and Report Templates

  • The Head of Science Operations submitted to the last JAF new templates for the Annual Progress Report and the Final Report

  • The scientific part of the reports will focus on 3 main items: New networking – Innovative networking – Inter-disciplinary networking. Approval by CSO on 17-18 March 2009?

  • Not subject to the approval of the CSO: revision of the guidelines for the organisation of the Annual Progress Conference.

  • Less focus on science; more focus on administrative networking data and networking activities.

  • All documents and templates will be disseminated by email and will be put on the restricted area.



PR and Outreach activities

  • New website: launched before full completion. Some services are still missing.

  • Only 2 ESSEM Actions replied: 730 and ES0701. Selected!

COST Grant System

  • January 09: Internal tests performed by IT, 2 AOs, 1 SO and 2 volunteer Action Chairs

  • February 09: Revisions based on initial testing

  • Release for use mid March 09 (= expected t0) ?

  • Actions ending before 2010 are not be forced to adopt the CGS

  • Transition to grant system of 1 Action per month per domain

  • The Actions must nominate 2 internal MC auditors
