I. 



The  Music  Association  Ecclesia  Nova  announces  the  1st  International  Contest  of  Composition  for  Choir 

and Organ for 2019, with the main purpose to promote the creation and the distribution of a new repertoire 

of sacred music for this ensemble. 

II.  The text must be sacred and in the public domain, in Latin, Italian or English. In case of a text protected by 

copyright, the permission signed by the author or by the licence holder must be obtained and presented 

when registering. 

III.  The  composition  must  be  for  mixed  choir  with  four  voices  (SATB,  where  necessary  divided  up  to  eight 

voices SSAATTBB) and pipe organ. The score can indicate the required stops, changes of keyboards, use 

of the pedal, and any other indication which is useful to the interpretation, on the basis of the stoplist of the 

organ of Bosco Chiesanuova Church, which is listed hereby:

The  organ  is  located  in  the  apse  just  behind  the  main  altar,  1800  pipes  ca.  Mechanical  transmission  for 

manuals and pedalboard, electric transmission for the stops. Couplers II to I manual, II to pedalboard, I to 

pedalboard. Swell box for the II manual. Digital sequencer for registration saving. Equal temperament. 

IV.  The composition must be written for a good level amateur choir and a professional organist and must have 

a maximum duration of 5 minutes. On the sheet music the duration must be indicated. In the final concert 

and during the 2020 Competition for Choir and Organ, as provided for in Article X, the choir will be located 

in front of the main altar; conductor and organist will be in visual contact through camera/monitor. 

V.  Each  composer  can  participate  with  one  piece.  The  music  sheet  must  be  written  with  a  proper  musical 

program and sent by email in PDF format. Audio files, paper-based documents or other devices will not be 

allowed. The music sheet will be anonymous and distinguished by a identification motto, to be reported on 

the registration form. 

VI.  The partecipant will send the application form in PDF format completed with personal details, the indication 

of the motto, the authorization for the use of personal data and a statement that the composition has never 

been  published  or  awarded  in  other  contests.  A  false  statement  means  the  expulsion  from  the  contest. 



Only anonymous music sheets will be sent to the jury, who will not know the names of the partecipants 

until the award ceremony. 

VII.  When registering, a fee of 50 eur should be paid for each piece by bank transfer specifying the motto on 

the payment and the receipt will be sent in PDF format along with the registration form. 

VIII.  The  registration  forms  and  the  music  sheet  must  be  sent  to 

info@ecclesianova.it

  at  the  latest  by  1st 

November 2019. The composition cannot be modified or revised after sending. 

IX.  The  jury  will  be  made  up  of  composers,  organists  and  choir  conductors  of  international  renown.  The 

evaluation will be done in two steps: 

1st  step  (eliminatory  round):  all  the  submissions will  be  evaluated by  the  jury  using the  following  criteria: 

composing techniques, knowledge of the Organ instrument and of the Choir instrument , rhetoric effect, 

originality. The feasibility of the piece by a good level amateur choir will be also an evaluation criterion. The 

three best pieces will move on to the next step. The authors will be informed about the results of the first 

step within the end of November 2019. 

2nd  step  (final  round):  a  public  concert  will  take  place  on  28th  December  2019  in  Bosco  Chiesanuova 

Church, in which the three best pieces will be performed by a good level amateur choir and a professional 

organist, both arranged by the Organization. The jury will evaluate the compositions in their whole efficacy 

and decide the final ranking. At the end of the concert there will be the award ceremony. 

The judgement of the jury shall be final and irrevocable. 

X.  The winners will receive the following prizes: 

1st: 


1500,00 eur 

2nd:   1000,00 eur 

3rd:  

500,00 eur 



The jury will also award a special mention to other deserving compositions, if any. Prizes and mentions, at 

the jury’s absolute discretion, may be going not assigned.   

An  audience  prize  will  also  be  awarded  (500,00  eur)  for  the  piece  most  voted  by  the  public  during  the 

concert.  

All the prizes are intended as a support to the composer and will be sent by bank transfer; in case of parity 

the prizes are to be split ex aequo among the winners. 

The authors of the three chosen pieces will be accommodated by the Organization with food and lodging. 

Within  the  1st  Competition  for  Choir  and  Organ,  which  will  be  held  in  Bosco  Chiesanuova  in  2020,  a 

Special Prize will be awarded for the best performance of one of the winning compositions. 

XI.  The copyright of the compositions will be guaranteed to the composer. Music Association Ecclesia Nova 

reserves the right of the first release on paper and/or digital support of the compositions, and the right for 

audio/video disclosure of the executions within the award ceremony and the Execution Contest for Choir 

and Organ.  

XII.  The participation to this Contest implies the knowledge and the full acceptance of the regulation. 

XIII.  The  provisions  of  the  Italian  Civil  Code  and  special  laws  will  be  applied  for  all matters not  explicitly 

provided by  this  Competition  notice.  Any  specific  complaint  must  refer  to  the  Italian  version  of  this 

announcement.   

XIV.  Any dispute will be submitted to the judgement of the court of Verona.

DATA CONTROLLER

The personal data provided may be communicated to appropriately appointed recipients who will process the data in their capacity as data controllers and/or agents, in order to comply 

with contracts with the person concerned or related purposes. The complete list of data processors and persons in charge of personal data processing can be requested by sending a

DATA TRANSFER 

In the event that personal data are transferred outside the European Union, for technical and operational purposes and to ensure a high level of continuity of service, the Data Controller 

shall ensure that the transfer is based on an adequacy decision by the Commission, in order to ensure that the level of protection of natural persons guaranteed by current legislation and 

in particular by EU Regulation 2016/679 is not compromised. 

DATA COLLECTION 

The processed personal data are collected as provided directly by the person concerned or collected automatically. The data provided directly by the person concerned are all personal 

data that are provided to the Data Controller in any way, directly by the person concerned. The data collected automatically are navigation data. These data, although not collected in 

order to be associated with the identity of the user, could indirectly, through processing and association with data collected by the owner, allow its identification. Following the sending of 

newsletters, the platform used allows to detect the opening of a message and the clicks made within the newsletter itself, together with details of the ip and browser/device used. The 

collection of this data is fundamental for the functioning of the systems for implicit renewal of the treatment (see the section Treatment Modality) and an integral part of the operation of the 

sending platform. 

PURPOSE OF TREATMENT 

The provision of personal data has as a legal basis for processing contractual or pre-contractual requirements or the fulfillment of legal obligations to which the data controller is subject. 

For this reason, any refusal to process or any lack, inaccurate or partial provision of data may result in the inability to properly provide the service or the inability for the owner to respond to 

requests for information sent by the person concerned. The provision of data related to sending of newsletters for promotional, commercial or research purposes is optional. A refusal to 

give consent to the treatment will make it impossible to be updated about commercial initiatives and/or promotional campaigns, to receive offers or other promotional material. 

REVOCATION OF CONSENT 

The person concerned may revoke their consent to receive promotional and commercial communications immediately, by sending a request to the e-mail address info@ecclesianova.it or 

by clicking on the appropriate unsubscribe link that can be found in the footer of each promotional and commercial e-mail received. 

RECIPIENTS 

The personal data provided may be communicated to appropriately appointed recipients who will process the data in their capacity as data processors and/or persons in charge of the 

processing. The Data Controller shall not communicate to third parties any of the information of the people concerned without their consent, except where required by law. In any case, the 

disclosure of the personal data processed is excluded. The complete list of data processors, co-owners and persons in charge of the processing of personal data can be requested by 

sending a specific request to the email address info@ecclesianova.it  

TREATMENT MODALITY 

Personal data are processed by automated tools for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected, providing in any case the annual verification of data 

stored in order to delete those considered obsolete, unless the law does not provide for filing obligations. Data processing is normally carried out at the Data Controller's premises by 

external personnel or collaborators duly designated as data processors. The complete list of data processors and persons in charge of the processing of personal data can be requested 

by sending a specific request to the e-mail address info@ecclesianova.it  

Specific security measures are observed to prevent the loss of data, illicit or incorrect use and unauthorized access. Subscription and related processing are considered valid until the user 

unsubscribes, which is present in every email, or after 12 months from the last communication of which there is evidence of direct interaction (click, open, reply). 

RIGHTS OF THE PERSON CONCERNED 

Pursuant to Articles 15 - 21 of EU Regulation 2016/679, each person concerned is granted a series of rights. 

- Right of Access: pursuant to Article 15, the people concerned have the right to obtain confirmation that personal data concerning them are being processed and, if necessary, to obtain 

a copy. They also have the right to obtain access to personal data concerning themselves and to further information such as the purpose of the processing, the categories of recipients, 

the period of storage of data and the rights that can be exercised. 

- Right of rectification: pursuant to art. 16, the people concerned have the right to obtain the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning them or the integration of the same. 

- Right to cancellation: the person concerned has the right to obtain the cancellation of personal data concerning them, without undue delay, if there is one of the reasons provided for in 

art. 17. 

- Right of treatment limitation: the person concerned has the right, in the cases provided for in Article 18 of Regulation 2016/679, to obtain the limitation of treatment. 

- Right to data portability: the interested party has the right to receive in a structured format, of common use and readable by automatic device, personal data concerning him and has the 

right to transmit such data to another owner without hindrance, as provided for in art. 20 of Regulation 2016/679; 

- Right to object to the processing: the person concerned has the right to object to the processing of personal data concerning him according to the provisions of art. 21 of Regulation 

2016/679. 

- The interested party also has the right to lodge a complaint with the competent control authority, the Privacy Guarantor. 

The requests referred to in the previous points must be addressed in writing to the Data Controller. The Data Controller will, within the time limits established by current legislation, provide 

a timely response to requests to exercise the rights of data subjects.  

Any clarification or request for clarification may be addressed in writing to the Data Controller. 

UPDATES AND MODIFICATIONS 

The Data Controller reserves the right to modify, supplement or periodically update this Information in accordance with the applicable legislation or the provisions adopted by the Guarantor 

for the Protection of Personal Data. These changes or additions will be brought to the attention of those concerned. We invite users to read the Privacy Policy regularly, to check the 

updated information and decide whether or not to continue to use the services offered.
