Strong friendships and social interaction are essential in university. Students must feel like they belong and can rely on their peers for assistance with their work and accountability.
The amount of time required to work, read, and study outside of class increases substantially from high school to university. Those who passed or excelled in high school with little effort may fail in university if they lack established academic habits. Effective academic habits include creating a timetable, reserving time for studying, getting to bed on time, attending all courses, using academic assistance resources, and visiting with instructors when necessary.
