PLAN:

  1. What to look for when choosing a career.

  2. Choosing a career.

  3. Expand your knowledge.

Choosing a career other activity; it is best to work to a plan. Too many people start looking for a specific job before thinking out their occupational aims. It is a good idea to begin by attempting to define in clear terms what your requirements are from a career. This involves taking a realistic view of your strengths and weaknesses. You may think for example, that you would like a job which involves organizing people, but liking such a job is not a sufficient justification if experience you already may have suggests that this is not your strong point. On the other hand, you should remember that training will equip you to do new things. A further point to consider is how far you will be willing to do for a time things which you do not like knowing that they are necessary to achieve your longer term objectives. Having thought carefully about the sort of person you are, try to work out a realistic set of occupational requirements. In particular, you can answer to important questions. First: what sort of life do you want to lead? For example, do you want to live in the country or in the town? Is leisure time of great importance to you? Is the size of your salary important? Do you want to put down roots or travel widely? Second: what sort of work do you want to do? For example, do you like working alone or with others? Does teaching people appeal to you? Do you want to be an organizer of other people's activities? Do you want to develop new ideas and initiate changes.

What to look for when choosing a career?

Choosing a career is one of the most important choices in everyone’s life. A profession is not only a source of income, but also an activity for which the main part of life is spent.

Psychologists suggest that in making such a responsible decision, not only rely on the advice of others, but also use other alternatives to the analysis.

Azizkhon Bahodirov, a specialist in career psychology, shared his recommendations.

Psychological tests

Psychological tests can help you determine which profession you are most interested in at an early stage. Not only this, it is necessary to rely on professional tests developed by experts in the field, not on the tests encountered on online platforms.

It is important to remember that test results should not be viewed as a “judgment”. They only determine the direction of inclination.

Expand your knowledge

It is necessary to strengthen the knowledge of different professions, promising fields and specialties.

Career guidance books are published each year. They even introduce you to occupations that are unfamiliar to schoolchildren. Maybe one of them is your choice.

Get to know the professions better

On the eve of graduation, a teenager often has a misconception about careers. They see only the pros and cons of their chosen profession. Parents need to help their children figure out a lot.

From the 9th grade onwards, it is a good idea to take part in "Open Doors" days at institutes and universities to get acquainted with your chosen field.

Systematize wishes

Get some paper. Arrange the professions you are interested in vertically and what you want from your chosen profession horizontally. The table should be as detailed as possible. You should put a "+" sign if the chosen profession and what a person expects from it match, and a "-" if it does not. It helps to define one's desires and to determine the perception of a profession that suits that desire.

Practice

Let’s say you’ve made a decision about which career to choose. Now it's time to dump her and move on. There are many specialized schools and courses with different study groups that allow you to test yourself, from vehicle mechanics to entrepreneurship.

Reserve airfield

In addition to the main selection, there should be an additional "backup" option. Because life is unpredictable, anything can happen.

If you are not able to study in the chosen field, it is advisable not to get discouraged and to consider other optimal options.

The decision is made only independently

Parental advice is helpful, but it should not be a final decision, it should be helpful.

Or it may be that the mother / father is reluctant to direct the child to a career that he or she did not pursue at a young age. A child is an individual and he has his own desires. These desires should not be sacrificed for the desires of the past.

Continuation of family traditions is not mandatory

If a child wants to continue his or her mother's or father's career, that's fine. But it is wrong to force it. The fact that the father found his happiness and success in this profession does not mean that the same scenario will be repeated in the son.

When a person does something he doesn't like all his life, he feels unhappy.

In general:

- People who know you well - your family, friends, you can ask which profession suits you best.

- The media helps to learn more about new professions. Special resources (literature, online platforms) provide information on areas that are in high demand.

- Follow your desires and goals in life.

- Analyze the information you have collected. "What do I need in life?" try to answer the question.

- If possible, it is advisable to consult a qualified career specialist.
