Some people say it is more important to plant trees in the open spaces in towns and cities than to build more housing. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Whether it is better to plant trees in the open spaces in urban areas or to build more housing has been a debate for many years. Although, there are advantages to building more housing, I feel that to use space places for green planting is far more beneficial for inhabitants.
To begin with, cultivation of trees may be useful to purify the air by reducing the volume of carbon dioxide and producing more oxygen which is undoubtedly necessary for residents. Healthy atmosphere helps people to heal their stress and to keep their mental health, especially in the urban areas a number of people are more likely to feel depressed from the hustle and bustle of city life. The results of survey in USA show that most residents of cities and towns would rather have a stroll in fresh air when they feel frustrated. It shows that planting more trees can be helpful for people to keep their health fit. Secondly, green planting could decrease the level of overpopulation. It is known that these days many people are prone to move to cities and towns due to the hight standards of city life. Consequently, it may cause an increased demand for food, water, housing and more. This consumption might contribute to ecological degradation and increased conflicts. To avoid these kinds of problems it is better to pay more attention towards new planting. However, there are certain types of people who hold the idea of building more houses as they believe that by this way government can help for homeless by making fees cheaper. I don’t know subscribe to this idea since today the issue of homelessness has not achieved although there are many homesteads in urban places.
To sum up, although a number of people are of the opinion of building more houses for above-mentioned reasons, I believe that paying more attention to green planting might be more beneficial for city residents as there are inevitable benefits for people’s health and planting more trees instead of households avoids overpopulation.
