THE SINGER OF HAPPINESS AND JOY, OR HAMID OLIMJON, WHO WE KNOW AND DON'T KNOW... (DEDICATED TO THE 113TH ANNIVERSARY OF HAMID OLIMJON)
Uzbek literature is full of flowers and blossoms. Each of them has its own expression, its own smell, its own height. One such creator is the poet Hamid Olimjon, a singer of happiness. Every poet enters the creative world with his own unique voice. He left a worthy exemplary life for the writers before and after him. What do we know today about Hamid Olimjon in the world of literature? What did we discover about the poet during the years of independence? First of all, let's look at Hamid Olimjon's life and poetic path. Hamid Olimjon was born on December 12, 1909 in Jizzakh region. When Hamid Olimjon was orphaned by his father at the age of 5, he was brought up by his mother and grandfather Azim. Hamid Olimjon's love for literature was awakened by the influence of fairy tales and epics told by his mother and grandfather, as well as the frequent visits of singer Fozil Yo’ldosh. When Hamid Olimjon was seven years old, an insurrection broke out in Jizzakh. Hamid Olimjon was among them when peaceful people were driven to the desert. Two years later, he goes to school. After finishing school he studies in Samarkand for higher education. His poems will be started publishing in Zarafshon newspaper. His first poetry collection is called "Ko’klam". After that book was published, it signaled the arrival of a creator with a unique voice in literature. While Hamid Olimjon was writing, his poetic period coincided with an extremely difficult timeline. During the period of his writing career, the period of repression of the Jadids took place. In his poems, he tried to show the feelings of patriotism and the pain of the people through the images in his works. The fact that he created a 10-volume collection of works during his short life proves that he is a great artist. Also, at the age of 29, he managed the Union of Writers, and at the age of 33, he received an academic title. The contemporary poet Mirtemir said about him: "Hamid Olimjon was a natural and rare talent," wrote Mirtemir. “In his blood, in his personality, in his pupils, in his ninety-two veins, there was an innate ingenuity, a poetic flair, knowledge, wisdom, light-heartedness, a bright heart, clear manners, greatness was evident in his forehead and big eyes. He knew much, he read much. He was aware of everyone and everything, in short, he was an educated penman in the true sense of the word. He left a priceless legacy for posterity. A person who reads his poems feels magical emotions. Hamid Olimjon raised Uzbek literature to another level with his dramatic works. He created a drama called "Crime" on a modern theme and "Mukanna" on a historical theme. His historical work "Muqanna" shows the greatness of our nation's history that we should learn from it. During the years of independence, Hamid Olimjon's work was brought back to the people. Lots of important scientific works, pamphlets and articles were created by Hamid Olimjon. Numerous streets and subway stations are named after him. The statue of Zulfiya Khanim, the life partner of the writer, was installed in the National Park in Tashkent. Today, we have reached the independence that Hamid Olimjon dreamed of. Our country will never forget Hamid Olimjon's services to our people. Hamid Olimjon was able to accompany the song of freedom sung by the original children of the nation, so he had the right to say "I live in the heart of my people, I live in the wish of the one who says freedom." Hamid Olimjon's poems always bring happiness and the dearest feelings to people.
