The wide usage of metonymy and metaphor among monolingual Uzbek children

Abstract

Following work aims to give a brief literature review on studying the notions of metaphor and metonymy, depict the usage and significance of these literary devices and learn unfamiliar semantic area of thinking principles of children’s language. It also analyzes monolingual Uzbek children from three to eight years of age and observes their participation in principle cognitive operations where basic procedures of metaphor and metonymy are observed. The outcomes of this issue identify the variance between cognitive preferences and levels of conceptual complexity in children’s language development using the principles of metaphor and metonymy. It also suggests expanding the list of language functions used primarily in cognitive operations.
