Chapter I. Basics of memory improvement using mnemonics
    1. Using mnemonics to improve memory.

Mnemonics comes from the Greek word meaning "the art of memorization". Mnemonics is the process of replacing associations (abstracts), abstract objects and facts with concepts and ideas that have a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic image, linking objects to information available in memory, to simplify memorization. A set of special techniques and methods that make it easier to remember the required information and increase the amount of memory by creating modifications. Also, the term “mnemonic” is used to visualize an object, subject, or event (in the form of an image, set of symbols, or objects) as a sign of memorization or identification, describing it fully and facilitating its development. In short, mnemonics is the art of memorization.
A memory is important for the students’ learning achievement. It is because memory can cause the students’ intelligences, and students’ skills grow. The students that have weak memories will be difficult to improve their learning achievement. On the other hand, the students that have strong memories will make their learning achievement be constant or even improved .
An attention is the giving of soul effort that is aimed at an object. If the students’ attention is big in an object, they can recognize and know the object perfectly. On the other hand, if the students do not have attention to the object, they can not recognize and know the object or they can know the object but not carefully. An attention has a tight relationship with an interest. If there is an interest, there is an attention.
What Are Mnemonics?
"Mnemonic" is simply another word for memory tool. Mnemonics are techniques for re-packaging information, helping your brain to store it safely – and find it again at the right moment. Think about some of the mnemonics you've heard over the years. You may well remember facts, rules or spellings with the help of mnemonics, such as:

  1. "Thirty days hath September, April, June and November "

  2. "ROY G. BIV" (for the colors of the rainbow).

Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet

  1. "Big Elephants Can't Always Understand Small Elephants" (to spell the word "because").

It's a gut-wrenching moment: you need to introduce someone, but you've completely forgotten their name. Or you're in a big meeting and it's your turn to speak, but the vital information has dropped out of your mind. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Chances are, we've all experienced that pit-of-the-stomach feeling when our memory lets us down.
Having difficulties in learning seems clear from the decreasing of the students’ academic achievement. The difficulties in learning of the students can be caused by factors such as the lowness of the students’ intelligences, there is a problem in a family, and the bad condition of the school building. There are ways to solve the students’ difficulties in learning such as the teacher can do class observation, and the teacher can have an interview with the students’ parents.
But in a fast-paced, information-rich environment, developing a strong memory is more valuable than ever. It can help you to be more organized, confident and creative, and make you a faster and more effective learner.
And the good news is that there are plenty of tools to help. The ancient Greeks taught their students systems for recalling key information, and many memory-boosting techniques have been developed over the centuries since.
Memory tools – "mnemonics" – have been used for centuries, helping to boost confidence and combat information overload. The best memory techniques use rich imagery, strong emotions, and clear patterns. A number of specific systems have been developed, based on the key principles of imagination, association and location.
