✅ Comparative graphs- bar chart, table, pie chart

As you may think , there are different types of graphs such as line graph, bar chart, table, pie chart in task 1. However, I can say that if we understand the meaning of provided data , there is no need to learn above mentioned types one by one. Therefore, We can divide them into four groups:
✅ Graphs with a trend(changes over a period of time) - line graph, bar chart, table
✅ Comparative graphs- bar chart, table , pie chart
✅ Process
✅Maps
As you can see , in the first two groups , the form of graphs is almost the same. I will try to explain this with the the help of pictures
1. GRAPHS WITH A TREND

One type of question is Task 1 is to write about a graph which shows trends, which are changes over time. You can be asked to write about different types of graphs such as line graphs, bar charts , tables or pie charts. For graphs with trends, you will see A TIME PERIOD IN THE TITLE OF THE GRAPH( e.g. visitors to three cinemas from 2000 to 2012). Time period: years , months , days (from 2000 to 2005 , between april and September , over a fifteen day period)

How can we build our paragraphs?
✅ Write an introduction to the topic of the graph in your own words (paragraph 1)
✅ Give an overview of the main ideas in the graph (paragraph 2)
✅ Describe the most important changes and numbers (paragraphs 3-4 or 5)
✅ Write a minimum of 150 words

General overview

✅ The first thing you should write about in the general overview is the general movements of lines over the whole period. Do they increase? Do they go down? Do they fluctuate?
✅ Don't write any details, numbers ( years are possible)
✅ Try to add another interesting point if possible
What do these rules mean?

You should look at the beginning as well as the end of the line . If there is a positive change(+) , then it increased. However, if there is a negative change(-), then it decreased. While combining two or more lines , you may write that this one and that one increased , while that one decreased . That is well-enough. I will show you how to write an overview with examples

INTRODUCTION

Title: The graph below shows information about the the number of VISITORS to three British museums from 2000 to 2010.

When you are paraphrasing the introduction, first of all , you must identify the main word of the title. In the above mentioned example the main word is "Visitors".
Visitor=someone who visits
Traveller= someone who travels
Income= money which is earned
You should think in this way. Paraphrasing doesn't mean changing every word in the title. It is enough to change some words, especially the main organising word
Let's rewrite the introduction if the main word is a countable noun like visitors, travellers
If the main word is a countable noun we can use the number of or how many
a) The line graph illustrates data about the number of people who visited to three museums in the Great Britain between 2000 and 2010
b) The line graph illustrates data about how many people visited to three museums in the Great Britain between 2000 and 2010
c) The line graph illustrates data on the level of visitors to three museums in the Great Britain between 2000 and 2010
( this structure can be interchangeable for most of the introductions like level of travellers, level of crime, level of spendings, level of employment)
Now, let's paraphrase the introduction if its main word is an uncountable noun like money
Title: The bar chart illustrates data about the income of Alex and Tim from January to December
Income➡️money which is earned
If the main word is an uncountable noun , then use amount of or how much
a) The bar chart highlights information about the amount of money which was earned by two individuals namely Alex and Tim over a year.
b) The bar chart highlights information about how much money was earned by two individuals namely Alex and Tim over a year.
c) The bar chart highlights information on the level of income by two individuals namely Alex and Tim over a year.
