There are three major articles in the Polish Constitution which refer to labor and health & 
safety: 
Art 24 
Poland provides legal protection of employment. 
The country provides supervision of working conditions. 
Art 66 
Everybody has a right to work in healthy and safe conditions. 
Labor code describes ways to execute this right and responsibilities of employers. 
Art 68 
Everybody has a right to receive a health protection. 
Constitution is the highest legal act in Poland. Other legislation cannot be contradictory to 
the Constitution.

Labor code (pl: kodeks pracy) is the most important labor legal act in Poland, a fundament of 
legal protection system in the country. It’s not possible to issue internal labor regulations or 
sign labor contract if the conditions are worse than those defined in Labor Code. This 
document defines: 
general working rules 
contracts of employment 
remuneration 
obligations of employees and employers 
working time 
holidays 
rights of parents 
health and safety 
collective agreements 
disputes about claims from employment
