His stories have been translated into dozen of languages and even today, he remains one of the best-loved American short story writers. O. Henry was born on September 11th 1862 in Greensboro, North Carolina. His mother died of tuberculosis when he was three, so he was raised by his grandmother and his aunt. As a child, he loved reading.
