Activity
Make each child a hat by rolling a sheet of
construction paper into a cone shape and taping
the edges in place (see illustration). Have the
children choose numbers between 1 and 5 to write
on their hats and place that many stickers on it. Let
the children put on their hats and march around the
room as you sing the first verse of the following song.
For each additional verse, have only the children with the
corresponding number on their hats march around the room.
Sung to: “When the Saints Go Marching In”
Oh, when the numbers march right in,
Oh, when the numbers march right in,
We will count them one by one,
When the numbers march right in.

Oh, number one is so much fun.
