2.VISUALIZE WHAT THE SPEAKER IS SAYING Try to conjure up mental images of what the speaker is talking about while you are listening up to help retain information.This may be a literal picture or other concepts that relate to the topic. Visualizing what the speaker is saying will also help you to not have to prepare for what to say next.If you happen to lose focus,make sure to immediately refocuses. 4.MAKE A MENTAL IMAGE OF WHAT THE SPEAKER IS SAYING Allow your brain to create a mental image of the information you’re hearing.Yor brain will do the work-whether it’s a mental picture or the organization of ideas-if you stay focused and your senses are fully engaged. 6.KEEP AN OPEN MIND Listen without jumping to conclusions.Keep in mind that the speaker is expressing their inner thoughts and feelings through the words.You have no idea what those feelings and ideas are;the only way to learn is to listen. 8.TO IMPROVE The aim is to make listening a part of your daily life.You can find a variety of interesting and fun content online.Start with topics you are most interested in,before moving onto more academic material. 10.TRANSFER YOUR ANSWERS CAREFULLY At the end of the paper-based test,you get an extra ten minutes to transfer your answers to answer sheet.Take care with spelling and capiyalisation.If you’re unsure about the capitalization,you can write your answers in all capitals.Take one last look at your answers to ensure they are grammatically accurate and you’ve followed all instructions. . 1.LIMITING When you are listening to someone talk ,you should avoid looking out a window,texting or scrolling through your phone,or scanning a computer screen.Limit any unnecessary distractions,provide the speaker with your undivided attention and make an effort to look at them. 3.LIMIT JUDGEMENTS You also want to listen with an open mind and understand that the person is giving you their perspective.You may realize that they make more sense as they continue to talk to you, and you won’t know the full story without listening. 5.BEWARE OF DISTRACTORS What you hear first may not be the right answer,so watch out for distracters.For example,the speaker may say one thing,but then reverse their answer.You may also find that the speaker mentions all the options with slight differences in meaning.Pay attention to details. 7.IT’S ALL ABOUT THE KEYWORDS During the test, the recording will be played just once,and you will be given time to read the instructions and questions before recoerding starts.Again,as you read the questions,underline the keywords,and try to predict the context of the recording-who will bespeaking,what the speech will be about. 9.PRACTISE,PRACTISE,PRACTISE Improve your listening skills by becoming an active listener.Films and Tv series may be fun to watch,but going further will make a big difference.Listen to a variety of English language resources,such as podcasts,news reports and Ted talks,which will expose you to new vocabulary and different accents.
