The purpose o f the research is to identify the psychological m echanism s o f the 
form ation o f ecological consciousness in an individual, to develop proposals and 
recom m endations for system atic study and im provem ent.
As the object o f the research, 185 students o f senior classes o f secondary 
schools in T ashkent, 310 students o f T ashkent State Pedagogical U niversity, A ndijan 
State U niversity, K okand State P edagogical Institute, International Islam ic A cadem y 
o f U zbekistan and N avoi State Pedagogical Institutes, as w ell as 90 professors and 
teaching sta ff o f higher educational institutions w ere chosen. Institutions w ere involved 
in determ ining the psychological m echanism s o f form ation, the total n um ber o f 
respondents w as 585.
The scien tific novelty o f the research is as follows:
it has been proved that the d evelopm ent o f ecological consciousness in an 
individual is correctly proportional, according to the decision on the m oral, aesthetic 
attitude to nature b ased on ecological know ledge, the form ation o f ecological m aster 
classes under the influence o f eco-centric and anthropocentric factors;
it is proved th at the m anifestation o f m utual identity in the relationship betw een 
m an and nature is a stabilizing factor for the integration o f environm ental interactions, 
according to the fact th at differentiation in interna! and external relations in the system
o f relations "object-subject" has a dom inant character;
based on the presence o f age differential differences due to the strengthening o f 
the cognitive and intrapsychic properties o f constructive-intensive relationships based 
on the m echanism s o f social influence in accordance w ith the expression o f social 
ecology in the individual;
m oral and social adaptation under the influence o f the individual's attitude to 
existential reality is based on the w eakening o f cognitive disintegration in relation to 
nature due to the fact th a t moral individual responsibility is enhanced by the form ation 
o f an eco-centric posture;
the fact th a t a person enters into a relationship w ith nature is evidenced by the 
strengthening o f ecological consciousness based on a com bination o f am bivalent and 
eco sym m etric sensations in accordance w ith their m otivational basis.
